How To Add a Post to the
Articles and Press Releases Section of
StageMagazineOnline.com

1. Just click on this link to get to the login/register area:

http://www.stagemagazineonline.com/articles/wp-login.php

2. Once there, Click register

3. The “form” changes quickly and lets you enter a Login Name of your choice (as long as it isn’t taken by someone else) and your email address.

4. Then click the Register button.

5. Your login information will be emailed to you once a staff member approves it (sometimes this happens very quickly; other times not, depending on how many others we are working with). We approve each registration individually to be certain the registration is for a Member Theater of StageMagazineOnline.com.

6. When your login info arrives, login (using the same main link):

http://www.stagemagazineonline.com/articles/wp-login.php

and keep this link handy.

7. Please click Profile in the menu line to take you to your own profile where you may add some additional information about your theater, add your theater's website address, and change your password by inputting your new password twice, as indicated. (When people click your name when seeing your article online, they will be taken to your theater's website, so it's important to include the website here if you want that to happen. EVEN BETTER: if you have been clever enough to create a “Welcome from StageMagazineOnline.com” page on YOUR website where you include our main URL, take people to THIS page from your articles and press releases. People will then know that you understand where they come from and you can speak directly to them about how to get around YOUR site! I GUARANTEE that you will have MORE impact on each visitor who arrives this way and to whom you speak directly about how to get around your site.)

8. Then there’s not much you can do until one of our staff sees that you have registered and changes you from a “subscriber” to an “author” who can “post” to the site. You will receive an email alerting you that you can post to this part of our site.

9. When the email arrives telling you that you can now post to the site, go back to http://www.stagemagazineonline.com/articles/wp-login.php and login using your username and password.

10. Click on Write a Post and that will take you inside the software where you will see a location to paste in your information (which you wrote in Word, let’s say, or you may write it directly there). Please be sure to include a Title. And double check to see that everything spaces the way you want it to. (Do NOT use the section lower down on this page: you are NOT uploading an article here, you are either pasting it into the online Word Processor OR you are typing it here directly.) Special Note: Be sure to use your Theater’s FULL NAME in every article at least once, especially in the title. Search engines will find this article MUCH more quickly when you do. And Titles are give more weight by search engines than the first paragraph, first paragraph more weight than the second paragraph, and so on.

10. And be sure to click “Save and Continue Editing” every few minutes and then scroll to the bottom of the page to see what your article will look like on the site. (VERY cool preview window that works in MOST browsers.)

11. And look on the right hand side to click the appropriate categories so people going to the site will be able to see that you wrote a blog post or uploaded a press release. (It’s really easy to do, once you look around the first time!)

12. You may upload photographs and other images and graphics that will help tell your story. Scroll down to the Blue Bar that says Upload. Browse for the photograph on your computer and once you click on it, then you’ll see a message to “Send To Editor” (meaning the word processing editor). Click this, leaving the other buttons clicked the way you find them. NOTE: Only small images are allowed. Please keep them smaller than 400x400 pixels and uploads should be ok.

13. When everything is finished, click "Publish" and your information will be online instantly! Ahhhh, the magic of the Internet!

There is other material on the page where you enter your information, but you don't have to worry about any of it. And be sure to save the link to get to the software AND your login info: you can submit as much on here as you want... even as much as one post a day, as long as they are on the topic of theater and help support what you are doing at your theater.

OK... remember to play nice so that your information can remain on the site. The WORLD can read things here and you are responsible for your own statements, so we don’t want to have to go get the Church Lady from SNL to police what is said here!

Have fun! Spread the word to your friends. This area is to help get more people to see your theater, and we’re ready to help.

Best,

Charles Seymour Jr.
